4Music
4Music is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring the Music Week Awards 2010 for the second year running. The UK’s number 1 music TV channel has enjoyed a successful 2009 and is proving to be a thriving platform which connects the best and brightest of the music industry with the hard to reach 16-34 year old audience. 2009 has also seen 4Music continuing to invest by commissioning new show formats like The World’s Greatest Popstars, getting access to the biggest names in music and creating new promotional devices like the VIP Track which drives artists’ profiles and single sales.
Dave Young, Director of Programming at 4Music and a judge at this year’s Music Week Awards said: “Whether it is through commissioning new programming or rolling out high profile trade initiatives, we are committed to helping the music industry prosper. We are very proud to be sponsoring the Music Week Awards for the second year in a row and to be involved in what is, ultimately, one of the most important calendar dates in the business.”
This year’s awards at the London Hilton Park Lane will see 4Music takeover the pre-dinner drinks reception and after-party.
4Music hope everyone attending has a fantastic night and looks forward to seeing you there.

PPL
PPL is delighted to continue its sponsorship of the National and Regional Radio Stations of the Year award categories and is delighted to now be the sponsor of the important Producer of the Year Award. PPL is the music licensing company which, on behalf of 42,000 performers and 5,000 record companies licenses recorded music in the UK and around the world.
This enables TV and radio stations, online streaming services and hundreds of thousands of shops, pubs and others using music in their business to obtain a single licence comprising millions of recordings.
As a music industry service, the company does not retain any profit for itself. The costs of collecting, processing and distributing the licence fees are taken from the gross revenues that the company collects. All these revenues are distributed and paid to all PPL's record company and performer members, and to those represented under the bilateral agreements. These include featured artists as well as session musicians, ranging from orchestral players to percussionists and to singers. According to recent MU research, 87% of musicians earn less than £16k per year. There is no joining fee or administration charge and the company actively seeks members.
PPL’s role and remit increases year on year given the increasing amount of data. For example the company receives details electronically on a weekly basis for, on average, 6,500 new recordings. Once this data has been fed into its own databases, that data is then passed on to PRS for Music for it to administer the relevant copying rights on behalf of the songwriters, composers and publishers. PPL also provides that data on to the Official Charts Company for the purpose of the charts, and also to the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) and IFPI (International Federation of Phonographic Industry) for anti-piracy purposes.
PPL’s other areas of operations include VPL, and PPL Video Store.
PPL wishes everyone attending a fantastic night and looks forward to seeing you there.

Metropolis Group
What do Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, Robbie Williams, Paul McCartney, U2, George Michael, Elton John, Mark Ronson, The Who all have in common? They are just some of the many global artists who have used London’s unique Metropolis Studios.
Established in 1989, Metropolis is the premier studio complex in Europe. Some of the most significant classic albums of recent times were recorded / mixed / mastered at Metropolis such as The Verve’s Urban Hymns, The Stone Roses’ The Second Coming, The Libertines’ The Libertines, Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black and Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill as well as the massive Live Aid & Live 8 DVDs. The group most synonymous with Metropolis is Queen, who recorded their last two albums here, the studios featuring heavily in the group’s promos of that era.
Occupying a Grade II listed former power station, the studios evoke Fritz Lang’s 1926 film vision of the future, after which they are named. Although Metropolis has a stunning history, their current and next project is always the one they focus on. The engineers and technical support team ensure that Metropolis remains at the forefront of modern music making, marrying long-established recording techniques with the very latest technology and a passion to create the very best end product.
In November 2009, Metropolis won the Audio Pro International Award for Most Original Studio Initiative for diversifying from a recording studio to a multi-media complex: Metropolis Mastering, the largest independent mastering facility in Europe, is at the forefront of quality and innovation, with six state of the art mastering suites and twelve world-renowned mastering engineers whose credits include Genesis, U2, The Beatles, The Prodigy and Amy Winehouse. The award-winning Digital Media team offers the ultimate one stop shop experience - Blu-ray, DVD, promos, web tools, iPhone apps, photography, live shoots and more.
